We’re incredibly moved by Meg Gibson’s dedication to honour the memory of Maureen Tracey and Elizabeth Booth through the challenging Rottnest Channel swim.

Meg writes:

On February 22nd next year, I’ll be taking on the solo crossing to Rottnest Island. This swim is something I’m not just doing for a personal challenge but in honour of two very special women that had a HUGE impact on many of our lives❤️

In the past 2 years, we lost Maureen Tracey and Elizabeth Booth, two beautiful sisters, to cancer- one to sarcoma and the other to lymphoma. They were both extremely dedicated and driven in their day to day lives and I feel so privileged for having known them. They are not only my inspiration for this swim but their determination, confidence and strength of character are things I will try to embody for the rest of my life.

As many know, they were both amazing athletes and also cherished Rottnest Island as one of their favourite places- somewhere we visited together every year. I couldn’t think of a more fitting way to celebrate their memory than by swimming the channel in their honour.

So I’ve partnered up with Sock it to Sarcoma!, an organisation dedicated to raising awareness and funding research for sarcoma. Every dollar we contribute will go directly to this cause, helping families and individuals affected by this disease and supporting research to find better treatments.

I would be incredibly grateful if you could support this journey by donating, sharing this post, or even just being a part of the cheer squad on the day🎉 your donations will not only be a tribute to two remarkable women but also support the fight against a devastating disease.

The love for Rottnest Island and their athletic spirits live on through this beautiful tribute. 💙

Your support of Sock it to Sarcoma! through this swim will help fund vital sarcoma research and support families affected by this rare cancer. Every donation, share, and message of encouragement makes a difference in our mission to sock it to sarcoma!
