Capital Football’s Charity Shield Raises Nearly $2,000 for Sarcoma Research

The Sock it to Sarcoma! team extends our heartfelt gratitude to Capital Football for their tremendous support through this year’s Charity Shield events. The combined Futsal and Football competitions raised an impressive $1,995.80 to help fund vital sarcoma research and support services.

Congratulations to all the winning teams:

  • Futsal Open Men’s All-Star Gold Team
  • Futsal Open Women’s All-Star Blue Team
  • Football U17 Girls Belconnen United FC
  • Football U18 Boys Canberra Croatia FC
  • Football Women’s Belconnen United FC
  • Football Men’s O’Connor Knights FC

We would also like to express our appreciation to the match officials who donated their time and expertise, the ACT Government for their ongoing support, and Capital Trophies for their contribution to this meaningful event.

We would also like to remember the inspiration for this event, Cameron Shelton, who sadly passed from Ewing’s Sarcoma in 2023. Cam was a widely respected and very much-loved member of the Canberra Football and Futsal Community, dedicating a huge amount of time and sharing his endless passion for multiple refereeing activities. Cam was and remains an inspiration for many and the continued support from Capital Football towards the sarcoma community in honour of all that Cam himself contributed to the football community is truly appreciated.

Events like the Charity Shield not only raise crucial funds but also increase awareness about sarcoma in our communities. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to improving outcomes for those affected by this rare form of cancer.

Thank you, Capital Football and the entire Canberra football community, for your generosity and support.
